Schiavello to deliver 4,000sqm refurbishment

Our QLD construction team has partnered with architect Studio Aria, SB&G Group, and TMCL to deliver the first hotel in the global launch of the voco hotel brand.

Previously the site of Watermark Hotel and Spa, the 4,000sqm voco refurbishment covers the entertainment area, a state-of-the-art gym, recreation rooms, as well as the ground floor reception and lobby spaces. The refurbishment will also see the new fitout of all 389 rooms across 20 floors.

Bringing a hotel in line with 21st Century holiday-making

“Our team is currently upgrading the fixtures, fittings, and artworks across all guest suites. We’re installing new carpets and painting throughout the rooms and corridors, as well as upgrading the public areas,” says Steven Kourevelis, Director and State Manager Schiavello Construction QLD.

81 premium suites are also receiving extended works to bathrooms and ensuites.

In the coming weeks, the rooftop will be transformed into four premium penthouse suites with terraces to take advantage of the expansive views.

Business as usual for voco hotel

The hotel has remained fully operational throughout the refurbishment works. Our team is paying special attention to minimise both structure-borne and airborne noise, work zone cleanliness, and ensuring the highest standards in safety management to minimise the impact on hotel guests.

“Throughout construction, our priority has been the comfort of the guests and helping to maintain the day-to-day business operations of the hotel,” explains Steven.

He continues; “it’s very exciting to be such an integral part of the voco brand’s global launch. Construction is tracking on schedule, and I’m confident the hotel will be ready for the Christmas holiday period.”

The entire construction process – covering planning, design, construction, and handover – is scheduled to take less than three months.
