Born from a desire to push performance further, the Australian Centre for Sports Aerodynamics now stands within the State Sports Park at Mile End, home to South Australia’s only industrial scale wind tunnel and one of the most advanced aerodynamic testing environments in the country.
Commissioned by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport on behalf of the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing, and delivered by Schiavello Construction, the centre was created to give researchers, engineers and elite athletes a place where aerodynamic performance can be explored with absolute precision. Its purpose-built systems capture the subtle forces of drag and airflow, generating insights that shape faster bikes, safer vehicles and more efficient structures.
Behind the scenes, the facility is powered by a sophisticated network of technical infrastructure, engineered to withstand the demands of high-performance testing while remaining adaptable for future innovation. Every component was designed with longevity, accuracy and flexibility in mind. The Australian Centre for Sports Aerodynamics marks a new era for South Australia, one where world leading aerodynamic research, testing and performance innovation happen right at home.
