A two staged approach

Schiavello's NSW construction team undertook the complete refurbishment of level 3 of the Family Law Court, Lionel Bowen Building in two stages.

Stage one saw the demolition of the existing offices within the space and the return of the building services back to base building conditions. The second stage involved the reconstruction of four court rooms, seven interview rooms and a waiting area.

Flexible solutions to meet client needs

Each court room features detailed plasterboard ceilings, bespoke linear light fittings and ornate joinery. The judicial bench, associate bench and witness box are finished with a blend of Quartz stone and Rift Oak veneer, creating a classic judicial environment.

The project’s major challenge was the critical nature of a communications office housed on level 3 that serviced the entire building. Schiavello Constructions’ solution was to build the new facility during stage one and migrate all services over to the new office prior to the commencement of stage two to ensure it remained operational throughout the works.

“The building on which these works were undertaken is a sensitive environment due to the hearings of Court matters. Schiavello Construction was both flexible and proactive in the delivery of its works in order not to disturb any Court occupants,” Trent Lister, Family Court of Australia Project Manager.
