A gamer’s paradise
Schiavello’s delivery of Microsoft’s latest space has set the benchmark for quality and innovation for the multinational tech giant. Delivered over 5 phases, the fitout is saturated with technology and ultra-luxe finishes to create a truly stunning yet functional and highly collaborative environment.
In collaboration with Futurespace, phase 1 began with the complete demolition of Microsoft’s existing auditorium, followed by the construction of a state-of-the-art Xbox experience room. A true standout of the project, Microsoft’s experience room features multiple banks of their latest console, a 180-inch screen, 4k projector and Dolby surround sound system to ensure complete immersion. Carpet, curtain and felt fill the room, providing industry-leading soundproofing, allowing guests to enjoy their experience at maximum volume without disrupting the workplace.
An 11-piece sofa dominates the floor plate, curving seamlessly throughout the room and offering front seat views of the oversized screen for maximum enjoyment. Lighting marries with earthy wooden textures and bespoke industrial mesh, creating a space of raw and elegant sophistication.
A marriage of design and craftsmanship
Phases 2 to 5 of the project encompassed 2,000sqm of new office space, conference rooms, a comms room and reception refresh. A particular challenge was the reconfiguration of Microsoft 500sqm Comms room to regain 250sqm of office space whilst maintaining all operations. At the forefront of creating spaces that meet new market demands, Schiavello’s profound knowledge of workplace trends and worker types resulted in a space that aims to increase productivity by promoting collaboration and creativity.
Working hand-in-hand with Microsoft, Schiavello sought to offer a range a value engineered options, whilst retaining the design intent. One such example includes the veneer finish to the feature wall in the Xbox room which was substituted to a high-grade polytec laminate, Ravine Natural Oak Schiavello construction met all challenges and delivered the complete project within the estimated time-frame.
Working in a live environment
The safety and comfort of existing tenants were paramount throughout the live environment. Schiavello worked closely with key project stakeholders to consider the operational requirements, and to ensure Microsoft tenants were not adversely affected by our presence.
Fostering an ongoing relationship
Schiavello has since been appointed for Microsoft’s next refresh. This should provide a host of design and buildability advantages moving forward; from the continuity of detailing, consistency and understanding of design standards. It also provides clarity of delivery, as communication and established systems are carried through to ensure a continuation of seamless and successful project delivery.
