A brand-new campus

Set within the Mount Lofty Ranges, the Adelaide Hills is famous for its natural beauty, wildlife, and food culture. It is now home to King’s Baptist Grammar School for students from Early Learning to Year 2.

Early engagement of our construction team during the design phase, together with Hodgkinson, Rider Levett Bucknall, WSP, enabled the 4,000 sqm Adelaide Hills development to be designed and documented in accordance with education standards and budget.

Blending in with the natural beauty

Our project team welcomed Minister for Education John Gardner, Dan Cregan - MP Member for Kavel, King’s Baptist board members, staff, students, and local community members to break ground at the brand-new campus site.

Following the ground-breaking ceremony, our construction team commenced preparing the groundwork and foundation. As the building structure took form, it was finished with high-quality joinery, cladding, wall panelling, and brickwork, to perfectly blend in with the natural beauty of the Adelaide Hills. Ready ahead of time for Term 1 of the 2023 school year.

Reuse and recycle

Due to all the ground conditions of the site, which included contamination and rock, our construction team worked through a number of options with the client to reduce the cost.

Rather than removing all contaminated soil from the site, which would have been costly along with bringing in imported fill, we worked with the King’s Baptist team, subcontractors, and engineers to develop an effective onsite remedial process. By breaking all the contaminant soil into smaller piles, and mixing in clays and sands, the soil was reproduced for reuse.

Furthermore, discovering rock on site that was not picked up during the early process of bore logs, was an unforeseen challenge. We worked with the subcontractor to have all the rock crushed on site, and then taken away and used at another project as recycled materials.

Both solutions produced significant savings in latent conditions for the client and minimised site wastage.
