Making way for a brand new experience
Schiavello Construction was engaged to demolish and extend Australia Post’s existing retail shop at the ground floor of 111 Bourke Street, Melbourne.
The works involved architectural and services alterations to the existing retail shop fit-out including ceiling services, new partitions and doors, ceiling and floor finishes, counters and joinery fittings.
Working around an operating shop
As the existing shop remained open throughout the course of the works, the staging of the works was crucial. This incorporated the construction of temporary entry points to ensure continued trade, along with a gradual handover of the extended retail service outlet.
Continuing a strong relationship
With Australia Post’s commercial headquarters located above the retail shop, it was essential that methods of working were employed to minimise disruption to existing tenants and users of the building. Out of hours and extended hours work was employed to accommodate the tight fit–out programme.
111 Bourke Street is one example of the relationship built between Schiavello Construction and Australia Post, spanning both retail and commercial projects.
