Constructing the latest sensory boutique in a national roll-out
Bang & Olufsen, Danish manufacturers of highly distinctive and exclusive electronics, opened up their latest sensory boutique at Westfield Bondi Junction.
The third location in a national roll-out delivered by our NSW construction team, the retail space showcases Bang & Olufsen’s premium range - a combination of technological excellence and emotional appeal.
Our team delivered the interior fitout and façade works with a strong emphasis on ‘customer experience’. A range of state-of-the-art speakers, subwoofers, televisions and other accessories feature throughout the space, designed to encourage interactivity and illicit a sensory response from customers.
Custom finishes and long lead time coordination
Bang & Olufsen’s strict international design standards meant the finishes needed to be consistent across every location. This included oak herringbone flooring, crisp white wall panelling, custom imported joinery and bursts of brass detailing.
The client-supplied furniture and joinery was imported from Switzerland, and involved long-lead coordination by our construction team to ensure it didn’t affect the overall lead time of the project. This provided an additional challenge because the pre-fabricated items had to fit perfectly into the completed fit-out, with absolutely no room for error.
Working with Westfield Centre Management
Situated in a high traffic, major shopping centre, there were strict noise and access restrictions. Working closely with Westfield Centre Management, our NSW team employed sophisticated project coordination and noise work solutions to limit the potential impact on the general public and other retailers, with hoarded off areas and sound insulation partitions.
Timing the works and various trades also involved a great deal of pre-planning, as all communication with subcontractors had to be made through Westfield directly.
Despite the challenges, Schiavello was able to complete the project to the exacting standards required by this premium global retailer.
