First project in Barry’s Asia Pacific roll-out
A regular fitness playground for the likes of David Beckham and Kim Kardashian, iconic lifestyle brand Barry’s Bootcamp has partnered with Schiavello for its highly anticipated Asia-Pacific market entry. Championing our national account model, our dedicated team worked hand-in-hand with Barry’s from project inception through to reviewing leases, developing the design, cost planning and building.
Our dedicated team worked with the client under a Design and Construct (D&C) approach to transform their concept as an international brand into one which met local design standards. Through a series of workshops, we sought to understand Barry’s operational requirements, allowing the team to provide an array of design alternatives for operational effectiveness and client experience, while sourcing materials for maximum occupancy and durability. This was critical to Barry’s – resulting in a high performance, premium space to match their brand.
The pursuit of precision
Through an integrated planning, design, and construction phase in which each activity occurred concurrently, our team assumed greater control over the procurement process. In addition to sourcing appropriate materials and long lead-time items, it meant that we were able to identify site-specific issues during design, and to collaboratively develop solutions prior to project delivery.
Featuring premium facilities, retail areas, customised fuel bars and the iconic Red Room, the palette reinforces Barry’s visual language as an international brand. A marriage of concrete, metal, and timber; the space exudes a raw yet elegant sophistication. These honest materials, balanced with discrete changes in detailing for each studio seeks to instil a sense of unique locale for client comfort and experience.
A floating concrete sandwich to eliminate noise and vibration
With a pre-existing slab undulating by up to 60mm, we levelled the floor, installed 996 springs in a grid formation and topped it off with 40 tonnes of concrete. This floating concrete sandwich eliminates noise and vibration within the Red Room, allowing nightclub level volumes without waking the neighbours.
Bespoke lighting defines the experience, and to cater to this, we imported all bulbs to match the original USA red.
The first delivery in an ECE partnership
The ongoing Early Contractor (ECE) partnership between Schiavello Construction and Barry’s Bootcamp across the Asia-Pacific rollout has brought benefits to both parties.
We are proud to help bring an iconic part of the fitness industry to Australia while Barry’s Bootcamp is assured with complete certainty in design continuity, quality, and a streamlined process for speed to market.
