Schiavello’s new collection: Objects of Desire 2019

Written by Schiavello International

Schiavello has this week launched its new furniture collection: Objects of Desire. The new range takes on a fresh aesthetic for the brand, conveying softness and gentle hints of femininity.

With concepts designed by the Schiavello Design Studio, company founder Tony Schiavello, as well as local and international design heavyweights Chris Connell, Mario Ruiz, Amanda Stanaway and the late Ivan Woods, each piece is designed to enhance the beauty of a space and is thoughtfully designed for practicality and comfort.

The collection features three sofas – Elfin, Mena and Low Fat – which are complemented by the free-flowing Curve Rug. Also part of the collection is a range of furniture pieces designed for the contemporary and rapidly changing workspace. With a number of designs including the Focus Quiet Room, a soundproof booth; a taller version of the Karo Ottoman; Aire Media Stand and the Agile Power Totem, an addition designed to bring tech and power to the Agile Table, the range is based on years of research and industry knowledge. This results in a collection of products that caters to flexibility, connectivity and the blurring lines between the home and the workspace.

From June 21, the Schiavello showroom in Melbourne’s Southbank will be stripped back to its bare materiality, revealing the base of the Hecker Guthrie-designed canvas. With all context removed, the new collection will be showcased in an art gallery-esque setting, allowing the viewer to decide how it should be understood.

View the range for a limited time only: 35 Queensbridge St, South Melbourne. Opening hours 8:30am–5pm.
