Even after 23 years as a wood machinist at Schiavello, Charlie still feels a passion to work on his craft every single day.
Formerly a supervisor, Charlie now prefers to work independently on each individual piece that comes his way, gently carving delicate curves and shapes into statement furniture, from boardroom tables to bathroom fit-outs across the Schiavello Group offering.
He unofficially assumes the role of team ‘motivator’, watching over and mentoring those newer to the trade, ensuring their work achieves the calibre he insists upon. Most critically by honouring and accentuating the natural beauty of the timber that will one day feature as the room centrepiece.
Charlie’s love for woodwork even seeps into his weekends, finding great pleasure in crafting handmade instruments for loved-ones. That is, however, when he isn’t spending his time enjoying a Sunday coffee with long-time friend and Schiavello co-founder, Joe Schiavello. Charlie’s values, attitude and humour are a perfect embodiment of the Schiavello way.
