Softly sculptured lines define Paloma’s form, sweeping upwards from the gently angled arms through to the statuesque back. A double zip detail at the rear further emphasises its sculptural qualities. This is a chair that announces itself in any setting, and then invites you to be enveloped in its comfort.

Released in 2010, Paloma represents Schiavello’s first swivel-based armchair of such a large scale and soft aesthetic, expanding on our already broad range of workplace offerings, including chairs.

The chair’s large footprint reflects the trends of workplaces leaning toward the blurring of work and the home. Paloma’s generous, soft and comfortable seat and back allows the user to feel at home.

Through its sculptural and sweeping lines, statuesque back and gentle, embracing curves, Paloma illustrates designer Ivan Woods’ versatility and ability to successfully deviate from his signature style of geometric shapes and linear designs.

Since its release, Paloma’s design has been expanded, welcoming the younger Palomino chair in 2014 – a redesign that resulted in a more compact and versatile version of the classic armchair.

The late Ivan Woods designed interiors and products for over 30 years. His work drew inspiration from his travels and interior architecture training in Perth, Australia. Working across projects within the UK, US, Germany and Italy, Ivan specialised in hotel and workspace design.

Schiavello and Ivan Woods maintained a solid history together. Our collaborative design process, which evolved over a decade, yielded distinctive collections such as Toro Collection in 2011, Palomino Chair in 2014, and both Kayt Village and Bomba Sofa in 2015.

With a strong architectural sensibility and carefully considered geometry, Ivan enriched his designs' emotional qualities in the fine detailing and sense of place. Ivan explained, "Good design is the creation of spaces, experiences and objects, embedded with strong and dynamic emotional connections to the people that use them. This is done through reflecting a sense of place, with a cultural authenticity and aesthetic.”
