Watsonette’s ergonomically moulded polyurethane foam provides contoured, firm support for the lumbar during long periods of sitting. With a seat height of 430mm, Watsonette is slightly higher than traditional guest seating, allowing for easy manoeuvrability into and out of the chair, particularly for older users. The high, hugging form of the back and sides provide further assistance in raising and lowering oneself to and from the chair.

Watsonette was developed in 2001 as a variation to the Watson chair – a product designed by Mark Watson that was released in 1995. Catered to waiting areas, meeting rooms, restaurants and hotel lobbies, the chair features a deep seat, ergonomically contoured curves and a hugging back and sides. This creates a comforting and supportive place to sit, especially for extended periods of time.
Watsonette features an internal timber structure, which supplies strength and stability, while moulded polyurethane foam padding adds the utmost comfort. This combination of materials results in a durable chair that is suitable for high-traffic environments, yet one that is also lightweight and easy to move, making it practical for waiting areas or meeting rooms where furniture is often shifted.
Stitched by expert craftsmen in Melbourne, the seams upon Watsonette’s upholstery are hidden and minute, presenting a smooth and seamless finish. Meanwhile, its discreet legs are available in timber or polished aluminium.
“The aesthetic for both Watson and Watsonette was inspired by ‘90s fashion – think about shoulder pads, and then look at the form of the chairs’ hugging backs,” says Peter Schiavello. Classic and sophisticated, Watsonette’s curved lines support working, public and hospitality spaces.
